Students taking classes outside on the Clarkson campus

After You Are Accepted

Pre-departure Meetings – Each semester, the Career Center holds meetings to prepare students for their study abroad experience. Safety, travel, insurance, cultural issues, and other related topics are discussed. Students are required to attend.

Visa – Some countries require a visa or residence permit to enter as a study abroad or exchange student. Consult with the host country's government site and with the Career Center Exchange Staff about the country where you plan to study. It can take several weeks to receive a visa, so submit the necessary paperwork early. You must have a passport before applying for a visa.

Health Insurance – You must be fully insured overseas. Make sure you have a policy that covers you in other countries as you will have to provide written proof of coverage.

International Student Identification Cards – Clarkson is authorized to issue International Student Identification Cards.  Request information from the Career Center about the discounts and insurances which accompany this card.  Your Clarkson ID card photo can be electronically forwarded from Residence Life upon request.

Airfare – The best advice is to book your flights as soon as you receive your visa. Check into reduced rates for students.
