Students taking classes outside on the Clarkson campus

St. Lawrence County Math & STEM Partnership

Faculty and students from Clarkson University and nearby universities work together with 300 local teachers of mathematics and science. This program is funded by New York State in the “No Child Left Behind” program, Title IIB. The primary goal is to “increase academic achievement of students in mathematics and science by enhancing the content knowledge and teaching skills of classroom teachers.”

The program includes one-day workshops, week-long summer institutes and ongoing support with educating teachers and students how to incorporate more applications and problem-based learning into their math curriculum at all grade levels. The program is coordinated through the St. Lawrence-Lewis BOCES with Clarkson as the lead higher education institution. More Information

Students also have the opportunity to get involved as coaches to local schools’ MATHCOUNTS teams. Our local program also includes Clarkson Mathletics a similarly styled local event held in November. More Information
