Communication Research Opportunities
You can become involved with the Communications faculty in a number of research and writing projects. You can become a research partner, ready to collaborate, engage on a professional level, take the initiative, and be accountable. Current Communication faculty research areas include:
- Telemedicine
- Information architecture
- Corporate universities
- Information technology
- Environmental discourse
Clarkson's research resources includes the Center for Excellence in Communication (CEC). This state-of-the-art facility provides a wide variety of computer software and hardware for hands-on learning. CEC equipment includes a communication and technology training classroom, teamwork areas, a digital video production room, a usability testing lab, and a writing center. The CEC also contains high-quality video capture and playback capability, numerous flatbed scanners and electronic drawing tablets, color laser printing, and an electronic white board. The CEC offers students and faculty ample space to study such topics as WWW design, electronic communications, digital video, and much more.
Communications students can also become involved with the University's SPEED teams (Student Projects for Engineering Experience and Design). Each of the 16 teams designs and builds a project for competition with other universities. Each competition includes requirements for presentations, and each team needs a Web site.
