Student life and academics come together in the Clarkson Common Experience, which develops an outcome-based thread of critical thinking and creative skills across all courses and extracurricular programs.

At Clarkson, students work hard but they play hard too. More than 95% play some intramural sport or participate in a campus club.

History

You might think that a history major is a history major is a history major. That it doesn't really matter where you study history.

But Clarkson brings its boundary spanning philosophy to even the most traditional of degree programs. So our history majors have the opportunity to develop innovative areas of expertise. Like the concentration in Science, Technology, and Society. Or the concentration in War Studies that builds bridges between past and present. You can also pursue the more traditional concentrations in American and European history.

No matter which area you choose, you will benefit from the personal attention that has become Clarkson's hallmark. Our faculty will work to prepare you for a world economy that demands expertise in technology, creativity in analyzing problems, and an understanding of diverse perspectives.

History majors can parlay their experience into a professional school. Clarkson excels in preparing graduates with exactly what law schools want, for example: the ability to analyze complex problems and reflect on diverse views.

The added savvy of computing and information technology skills will also serve you well if you choose to apply for medical schools or one of the other health care fields.
