The Center for Health Sciences

Research, Teaching and Innovation

The Center for Health Sciences is a regional center of excellence for education, treatment, and research in physical rehabilitation and other health sciences. The Center houses both Clarkson's Academic Physical Therapy and Canton-Potsdam Hospital's Physical Rehabilitation Services.  Students benefit from practical experiences and shadowing professionals with patients needing real life care as well as participate in the world-class research of faculty engaged in creating new knowledge for the profession.

The state-of-the-art patient evaluation center combines the resources of both the University and Hospital, including sophisticated technology such as teleconferencing, computerized balance and telemetry-based motion analysis.

Staff from both the University and Hospital work cooperatively to provide the most advanced care to patients, and a real-world academic experience for students. Clinical staff from the Hospital participate in instruction, and academic faculty from Clarkson's department in the Hospital and medical practice. Students have access to the clinical service throughout the professional program.

Canton-Potsdam Hospital Physical Rehabilitation Services, located on the first floor, provides outpatient rehabilitation services including:

•Physical Therapy
•Speech-Language Pathology
•Occupational Therapy
•Neurorehabilitation programs
